Flowtens Belt sends gentle electrical pulses through the skin to the sensory nerves in the lower back and abdomen. These signals travel faster than pain signals and compete with them on the way to the brain.
In the spinal cord, the extra sensory input dampens the pain signal before it reaches the brain, an effect known as the gate control mechanism. The result is noticeable relief during and after the session.
Low-frequency stimulation also prompts the body to release endorphins, its own pain-relieving substances. They act on the same receptors as many painkillers, but are produced by the body itself.
Together with the gate effect, this gives relief that can last beyond the session and helps the nervous system leave its protective, alert state.
Built-in heat warms the lower back and abdomen in three levels between 38 and 45°C. Warmth widens the blood vessels and makes muscle and connective tissue more pliable.
Six massage programs and 16 intensity levels let you adjust the TENS stimulation to the day, combined with heat or on its own.
The stimulation increases local blood flow in the lower back and abdomen. More circulation brings oxygen and nutrients to strained tissue and helps clear metabolic waste.
The rhythmic muscle activity also supports lymph flow, since the lymphatic system has no pump of its own and depends on movement and pressure from the surrounding muscles.
The core is supported by a network of fascia and connective tissue. When it stiffens through strain or long sitting, the layers stop gliding and the lower back feels locked.
Stimulation and heat increase fluid exchange in the tissue, so the layers glide again and mobility in the lower back and core returns.
