Flowlight Laser Mask Ultra+ delivers laser light at four wavelengths, each absorbed at a different depth. Blue light at 460 nm stops in the outermost layer of the skin. Red laser light at 665 nm is absorbed in the dermis, where collagen and elastin are formed. Near-infrared at 850 nm reaches the tissue below the skin, and 1064 nm reaches furthest, since it is absorbed less at the surface than shorter wavelengths.
The 236 laser diodes are split into 72 blue, 72 red, 72 at 850 nm and 20 at 1064 nm. Because the mask rests directly on the face, the distance between diode and skin never changes during a session.
An LED spreads its light in a wide angle and over a broader band of wavelengths. A laser diode sends a narrow, concentrated beam at one exact wavelength, so less energy is lost to the sides and more of it reaches the skin. That is the core difference between the two Flowlight masks.
Flowlight Laser Mask Ultra+ uses laser diodes with a 20° beam angle and gives about 90 mW/cm² at the skin, around three times the LED mask. The concentrated light, together with 1064 nm, carries the effect further down into the tissue. Flowlight LED Mask Pro+ uses LEDs with a wider 120° angle and about 30 mW/cm², a gentler option for a daily skin routine.
Red and near-infrared light is absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, an enzyme in the mitochondria. The mitochondria produce ATP, adenosine triphosphate, the energy every cell runs on. When the enzyme is activated, ATP production goes up.
More cellular energy sets off several responses. In the dermis, fibroblasts increase their production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give skin its structure and elasticity. Nitric oxide is released, blood vessels dilate and circulation in the face, neck and head increases, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the tissue. Blue light works differently and acts on the surface, keeping the outermost layer of the skin clear.
The effect builds with repetition. A single session raises cellular activity for a short time. Daily sessions keep it elevated, and collagen production accumulates over weeks. Skin usually takes eight to twelve weeks before the change in firmness and tone is visible.
Each session is short. The timer can be set to 5, 10 or 20 minutes, and 10 to 20 minutes covers most goals. The built-in battery lasts around 40 minutes per charge, enough for two full sessions, so the mask is easy to fit into every day.
In the morning, use Red at high intensity for 10 to 20 minutes, combining 665, 850 and 1064 nm. Many users describe a clearer head and a stronger sense of alertness after a morning session.
In the evening, choose Near Infrared at low to medium intensity for 20 minutes, ideally 20 to 30 minutes before bed. Both 850 and 1064 nm are invisible to the eye, so the light does not disturb the wind-down.
